How to Dominate Your Niche in 5 furry steps |

First select a nice dry niche with no signs of ageing, instability, hibernating relations or fustiness and one that is not due to be demolished to make way for a whole new area. |

Make sure that the niche is just large enough for yourself and allows very very little room for anyone else or any of your friends. Make sure you are happy to stay in it for the foreseeable future by having a little snooze there straightaway. |

Make sure that the niche is in the same style as yourself. You cannot dominate it successfully if the niche is Gothic and you are Renaissance. Try turning round gently and see if there is room for your stomach as well as your emergency stores of honey. |

Having made sure that you and your surroundings look as one, try and make sure that humans always think of you as one unit. If they pass you by they must seeing you blending together so well that they cannot think of one without the other. |

Finally make sure that everyone, including your rivals recognise that this is your own personal niche. Humans are very fond of a thing called 'a brand' which does not involve singeing your fur, only making sure they think of you first. Keep it that way! |
